Enrolment & Zoning
Home Zone
All students who live within the home zone shown on this map shall be entitled to enrol at the school. A more detailed description of the home zone is available by clicking here.
Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date which will be published in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. This will enable the board to assess the number of places which can be made available to students who live outside the home zone. Proof of residence within the home zone will be required. It is important that you enrol your child at least one week prior to their entry but we encourage parents to enrol their children anytime after their 4th birthday.
How to Enrol Your Child
Willowbank School is a contributing Primary School and takes children from Year 0/1 to Year 6 (from 4yrs 10 months of age to around 11 years of age).
From 2018, we have adopted cohort entry which means for new entrants, if your child's birthday falls before the midterm date, they can start at the beginning of that term. If your child's birthday falls after the midterm date, they can start at the beginning of the following term or the start of any later term until their 6th birthday.
2018 Mid Term Dates for Cohort Entry
Term Start of Term Date Mid Term Date End of Term Date
1 31 January 2018 20 March 2018 13 April 2018
2 30 April 2018 11 June 2018 6 July 2018
3 23 July 2018 3 September 2018 28 September 2018
4 15 October 2018 12 December 2018 14 December 2018
For example, if your child's turns 5 on 3rd March 2018, they are able to start school on 31st January 2018 or 30 April 2018 or at the start of term 3 or term 4. If your child's 5th birthday is on 16th June 2018, they can start on the 23rd July (after their 5th birthday) or at the start of a term up until their 6th birthday.
Please note, that there are proposed changes to cohort entry however any changes will be adopted from 2019 onwards.
Please collect an enrolment pack from the school office and children can be enrolled at the school office between the hours of 8.30am and 4.00pm, or outside these hours by arrangement.

Out of zone enrolments
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received. Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
- First priority will be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school (not applicable to Willowbank School)-:
- Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school:
- Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school:
- Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school:
- Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school:
- Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
2018 Out of zone enrolments
Due to the high number of in-zone enrolments, we will not be accepting any out of zone enrolments for 2018 other than for siblings of existing students.
